Aquality is proud to be part of the incredible transformation of the Selso Building in the City of London. Sheppard Robson was the original architect when the building was completed over 20 years ago, and were called up once again for the more recent £20m refurbishment. The result? A bold new benchmark for environmental performance has been set for this 90,000 sq ft of prime office space. A key highlight of this project was a focus on sustainability, successfully targeting BREEAM Excellent, WELL ‘enabled’ status and Net Zero embodied carbon, Retrofit projects often come with unique structural puzzles. Here, plant room space constraints presented a major challenge. However, we successfully tailored a compact, high-efficiency configuration to fit the tight footprint without compromising on performance. By implementing advanced attenuation tanks, the building now utilises treated rainwater for WC flushing and site irrigation—significantly reducing its operational water demand.

Can you run a major City of London office on just 17 litres of mains water per occupant, per day? Typical offices consume about 50 litres. But a next-generation redevelopment in Fetter Lane—designed by Fletcher Priest Architects—is rewriting the rules on water sustainability.
