London - The Shard

The Shard the tallest building in Western Europe and the European Union has transformed London’s skyline with its 310m high dramatic tower.

The multi-use building creates a vertical city with high quality offices, world-renowned restaurant, 5-star hotel and exclusive residential apartments.

It has the capital’s highest viewing gallery called The View, which offers 360 degree viewing of London, and is located over three floors No. 68, 69 and 72 out of the 87 floors of the building.

The construction of the building started in 2009 and was opened in 2012. It was designed by the Italian architect Renzo Piano. The building has 11,000 glass panels and 56,000m2 of facade. The design is unique and deliberately set out to include a number of sustainable aspects. Examples of this are the combined heat and power plant and the rainwater harvesting system.

The rainwater harvesting system was designed by ARUP and Partners in conjunction with Aquality Trading and Consulting.

Aquality also supplied the rainwater Harvesting equipment.
